There is something in this ready-to-wear range that every girl can wear. Smart, sassy, sexy, casual - it's all there.

Big bold sleeves, sparkles, bright cobalt blues and purples, pleather and melton jackets in edgy but trendy cuts - with the Tlale name branded on some of the apparel - the Van der Tlale range still captures the drama that is Tlale.

Why shouldn't every girl feel stylish and trendy.? I'm glad to be a part of thatAnd the shoes are to die for, with the most expensive pair coming in at a measly R299.

Tlale notes that some are of the opinion that he's killing his brand.

"But," he says, "I just realised that aspiring youngsters who have always wanted to own a Tlale label can now afford this.

"There are many brands within my brand and this is an affordable yet stylish one," Tlale says and notes: "There's a difference between cheap and affordable.

"This range was done with the same passion and we used quality fabrics. I'm fashion-forward and I love style and it's a wonderful opportunity to be doing this for a broader audience."

Haley Pillay, buying manager for Legit, says they have always involved celebrities in the brand, signing the likes of Noni Gasa, Sade, Minnie Dlamini and Zizo Beda who were all ambassadors for the brand.

"This time we wanted something different, and to include local designers who would actually design the winter range, and the first name that popped up was David Tlale.

"I'm so excited I'm actually wearing one of the dresses - the second time this week," she says.

Tlale is not the first designer to team up with a retail store, but he is definitely the first to have a range that many can now buy and not feel the pinch.

"Why shouldn't every girl feel stylish and trendy.? I'm glad to be a part of that," he says.

Tlale's range will be in 180 stores nationwide as of April 23 and he will reveal the second drop of the range on May 3. ( sundayworld.co.za )
